Pearls of Wisdom |

East
The thought manifests as the word; The
word manifests as the deed; The deed develops into
habit; And habit hardens into character. So watch the thought
and its ways with care, And let it spring from love born out of
concern for all beings.
~
Buddha
High-minded actions, ideal qualities,
and sacred thoughts are basic foundations of character.
~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Only the wisest and the stupidest of
men never change.
~
Confucius
Greater
is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
~
Jesus Christ

Refrain from doing ill; for one all
powerful reason, lest our children should copy our misdeeds; we are
all to prone to imitate whatever is base and depraved.
~ Juvenal
The ultimate measure of a man is not
where he stands in moments of comfort, but were he stands at times
of challenge and controversy.
~ Marin Luter King
Every man alone is sincere; at the
entrance of a second person hypocrisy begins.

Man is not the sum of what he has but
the totality of what he does not yet have, of what he might have.

Your Character Ethic and Personality Ethic
The elements of Personality Ethic, such as
communication skills,
influence strategies, and positive thinking, are essential for
success, but these are secondary, not
primary traits.
"You can pick up quick, easy techniques that may work in
short-term situations. But secondary traits alone have no permanent worth in
long-term relationships. Eventually, if there isn't deep
integrity and fundamental character strength, the challenges of life
will cause true motives to surface and human relationships failure will
replace short-term success," says Kenneth Blanchard.1
Only basic goodness gives life to techniques.
To achieve great results,
focus first on yourself
– your beliefs and values, your
deepest motives and perceptions – and then on your techniques.
There are two main paths of the Personality
Ethic:
-
Human and public relations techniques (e.g.
communication skills; influence strategies)
-
Positive Mental
Attitude (PMA)
Buddha's Path to Liberation
From right understanding proceeds right
thought;
from right thought proceeds right speech;
from right speech proceeds right action;
from right action proceeds right livelihood;
from right livelihood proceeds right effort;
from right effort proceeds right awareness;
from right awareness proceeds right
concentration;
from right concentration proceeds right wisdom;
from right wisdom proceeds right liberation.
Jesus on Love
There is only one love that loves
unconditionally — the love of the Divine. You must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest
commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as
yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on
these two commandments...
