Caution! Manipulative Leadership and Information Warfare

Manipulation is the clever and/or dishonest control of people to promote a desired worldview and/or to gain an unfair advantage. It involves hidden motives where one party uses deception, pressure, or subtle influence at the expense of another.

In politics, manipulative leadership is a style of control where a group of top politicians uses hidden pressure, deceit, falsification of facts, and emotional games to steer the population. Instead of honest requests, these leaders use guilt, secrecy, and shifting rules to serve themselves. This behavior burns out nations over time.

Caution! Manipulative Leadership and Information Warfare

Why and how do manipulative leadership and information warfare work?

The main thing is to initiate movement in the direction the manipulator desires.

How effective is this?

Here's an example of selective perceptions:

Young Woman or Old Woman? Selective Perceptions test

Does the picture depict a young, beautiful woman or a poor old woman?

Psychologists conducted an experiment. They divided several dozen people into two groups and showed them the same picture.

People in the first group claimed that the picture depicted a young, beautiful, and rich woman, while people in the second group, looking at the same picture, claimed that it depicted an old, ugly, and poor woman.

Why did the two groups of people have such different perceptions of the same picture?

The fact is that these two groups of people were previously shown similar but different pictures, which pre-formed their understanding of what was depicted in the picture shown to both groups.

The first group was shown the left image beforehand, and the second group was shown the right image beforehand. This shaped people's one-sided views, which determined their subsequent beliefs.

Examples of perception manipulation in modern wars:

War with Iran

Those who were initially told (and continue to be told) that Iran wants to build a nuclear bomb and attack the United States see any Iranian action as evidence of this.

Those who were initially told (and continue to be told) that the United States unjustifiably bombed Iran view any US military action against Iran as unjustified aggression.

War in Ukraine

Those who were told (and continue to be told) that the war in Ukraine is a continuation of World War II – Russia's war with the international Nazi coalition – see any action by Russia and the coalition as confirmation of this.

Those who were told (and continue to be told) that the war in Ukraine is the defense of international democracy from an aggressive Russia interpret everything that happens in accordance with this premise.

A Joke
about Winning by Manipulation and De-positioning

Wise vs. Fast

A farmer buys a new rooster to replace his old one, and puts him in the chicken coop...

The new rooster walks up arrogantly to the old rooster and says "out of the way old man! These are my hens now. Your time is done."

The old rooster rolls his eyes.

"Alright, fine, I get it. I'm old. But I still have some living left to do, and won't give up my hens so easily. There is only room in this coop for one of us. Let's settle it this way: we race around the coop. The winner stays, and the other goes."

The young rooster agrees to the challenge.

The old rooster says "but listen, I'm not the young cock I once was. You have to give me a 5 second head start to make it fair." The young rooster agrees to these terms.

When race time comes, the young rooster counts down to start it. "3... 2...1... go!" The old rooster takes off running, giving it his all. After 5 seconds, the new rooster takes off after him. As they round the first turn of the race, the new rooster is already about to catch up to the old one, right on his heels.

Then the farmer's wife shouted to her husband: "Who did you bring? He's chasing our old rooster!"

The farmer grabs his shotgun, and shoots the young rooster, leaving only some blood and feathers. He exclaims angrily,  "Damn it! That's the third gay rooster I've bought this month!"

How to Avoid Falling Victim to Manipulative Leadership

Manipulative "leadership" is effective on both the individual and global levels.

Everyone has a defense against it, but it requires a strong brain.
A simple question, "Who benefits from this statement?" will help you avoid falling victim to manipulation.

A more in-depth analysis using a chain of five "Why?" questions (Examples) will help you uncover the deep roots of the current situation and, thus, develop mental immunity to external manipulation.

Remember, the real world is quiet; only illusions need to shout.

Train with cunning deceivers – they will help you to make critical thinking a habit. You will be able to defeat the manipulators on the battlefield for the minds and hearts of people.
